GCI manages its projects in three divisions: Hydrocarbons, Renewables and Mining.
Hydrocarbons
The hydrocarbon division comprises two projects in Nigeria: Marginal Oil Field Development and Condensate Refining:
Marginal Oil Field Development:
During 2020, Nigeria offered oil mining rights for marginal oil fields in a competitive bidding process to indigenous companies. Marginal oil fields are fields within oil blocks that have been discovered and have been left unattended by the oil block owners for more than 10 years. One of the objectives of the bidding process was to give indigenous companies access to oil and gas assets.
GCI participated in this bidding round as technical partner of several bidders. The bidding process was concluded in June 2022. We are currently in the FEED Phase with successful bidders.
Condensate Refining:
GCI cooperates with 3D Hitech Systems Limited in the implementation of the "Oben Condensate Refinery", which has been initiated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC). The project aims at securing Nigeria's demand for refined petroleum products. It includes production of hydrocarbons and a condensate refinery.
3D Hitech Systems Limited has been cleared as a core investor for the project. GCI in collaboration with 3D Hitech participates in this project as a service provider for hydrocarbon production.
Renewables
GCI in collaboration with 3D Hitech Systems Limited act as service providers for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) regarding the implementation of Nigeria's Biofuels Industry Programme (NNPC Biofuels Automotive Programme). The programme prepares the country for a transition from hydrocarbons to renewable energy.
3D Hitech Systems Limited is in the process of forming a Joint Venture Vehicle with NNPC, which should set up agro-industrial clusters throughout Nigeria. NNPC is the vendor of this project. It has selected 3D Hitech Systems Limited in a competitive bidding process as one of the indigenous companies with the necessary network to drive the energy transition process in Nigeria. GCI participates in this project as a service provider to 3D Hitech Systems Limited.
Mining
We originate solid minerals mainly in Nigeria in collaboration with artisanal miners. Our strategy is providing know-how, finance and secured international off take to small scale operations to upgrade their businesses through bundling them in cooperative societies.
